Hub Community Foundation

The wider Hub programme is benefiting charities across Scotland through the Hub Community Foundation (HCF).

The HCF is a charity that raises money for those in need through the financing of community-based projects built by the Scotland-wide Hub programme, thus maximising local community gain. Managed by Inspiring Scotland, in 2018 £1.3m was allocated through the Building Brighter Futures Fund to 10 charities across Scotland. In the Hub South East territory, two charities are benefiting from this funding – Grassmarket Community Project and Move On Wood Recycling.

Most recently, during the Covid-19 pandemic, charities benefiting from HCF funding were allocated further additional funds. Grassmarket Community Project used this to provide meals 6 days a week to some of Edinburgh’s socially isolated.

Check out a video showing the difference these two charities, as well as 8 others across Scotland, have made with this funding.

We are delighted our application for funding from the Hub Community Foundation’s Building Better Futures Fund has been successful. We will use the funding to develop an employability training programme for young people linked to our exciting new social enterprise, Move On Wood Recycling. The programme will equip young people with qualifications and will improve the chances of young people in accessing work, training and education. It will also help young people increase their confidence and basic work skills, and improve their positive social networks.
